 Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long is my system under Warranty?
Most new systems are covered by the Manufacturer (i.e., Trane, Carrier) for five (5) years from date of installation for parts and 90 days for labor. Some Manufacturers further extend their warranty for parts. Some Manufacturers extend their warranty for 10 (ten) years on the compressor. 4-Seasons workmanship is guaranteed for one (1) year from the date of installation. This does not cover "changes" to your existing system that was installed, only the original work that was performed. Most manufacturers offer Extended Warranties on their equipment. 4-Seasons will process this paper work for you upon your written request. Please call for Extended Warranty pricing and packages available.

  • Why is my digital/programmable thermostat not working?
It could be as simple as a battery replacement. Most digital/programmable thermostats have batteries. Simply change the batteries, make sure to hit the "reset button" and it should work properly, if not, call us!

  • Water is leaking from my Air Handler.
Condensation is normal during warm, humid weather. This can occur from the copper tubing leading into the air handler or under your condensing unit (outside unit). If it is an "abnormal" amount of water, call us, especially if the condensation drain line is not draining properly.

  • FP&L On Call Box
If your system seems to "shut down" for periods during the afternoon, chances are you have an FP&L On Call box. An FP&L on call box can be located by your water heater and/or your condensing unit. It is normally gray or red in color with several sets of lights. You may have one without knowing it if you have bought a previously owned home. Call FP&L to find out if you do. If you don't, call us.

  • How do I maintain my system?
Maintaining your system can be a little complicated. You can regularly change your filters, as we recommend every home owner do. However, checking the electrical system, refrigerant pressure levels, etc., should only be done by a qualified professional.

  • I have one room in my home "warmer" than the others.
Ask yourself "which direction does this room face?" Does it get more sun during the day, are there alot of windows? Have you installed sun-blocking window treatments? This could be the cause, or it could be an air flow issue. We can schedule a free system evaluation to help determine causes & evaluate solutions.

  • Warm air is coming from my vents.
There are several reasons this can be happening. Check your filters - have they been changed lately? Next, check the batteries in your thermostat (if so equipped)- low or weak batteries can "throw-off" your system. Check your drains and pan, if water is backed up this can throw the flow switch and stop your a/c from running properly.

  • Dehumidistat settings
If your home is equipped with a dehumidistat make sure the settings are: While at home: Dehumidistat to on, use the thermostat as normal. While away: Set the humidity percentage to 65%, adjust thermostat to 82 degrees and set on "auto".

  • Ice has formed on my compressor unit
If you notice ice or "frost" on the coils of your compressor unit or copper piping, turn off your system immediately. This can be caused by many reasons, the most common being low refrigerant. A technician can not always work on your system if there is ice present, so we advise that as soon as you notice this problem occuring, turn your system off and call us.
